The Lord of Destruction expansion has introduced new unique items, especially in the exceptional unique and elite unique categories. In fact, a staff is a badge of sorts, usually carried by a Sorceress - an expert in the use of elemental magic. Those skilled in the arcane arts have long relied upon wooden staves as channeling foci. Although not generally a warrior's weapon of choice, staves are still effective in melee combat.
